New HD Trailer on GameTrailers.com

Watch the new trailer for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet on Gametrailers.com:
HD Version - Standard Version.

Here's a little history of our project so far:

In 2007, Joe Olson and I discussed the idea of collaborating on a video game project. We imagined a side-scroller that would combine old school arcade style game play with feature film quality design and animation. Thus was born Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet.

Soon after, Joe, a team of industry veterans, and I formed a partnership to begin development. A few months later, on August 27, 2007, we released our first trailer on-line. Yes, it's been a while, but by no means have we been standing still. Since starting the project, we developed the story arc and interstitials; we created environments, creatures, and mind-bending effects animation; we’ve blocked out levels, came up with new, exciting and challenging game designs; we resolved technical issues and made several technological breakthroughs.

We are excited to share some of the progress in this new trailer, which consists entirely of in-game footage. It conveys the scope, style, and breadth of the experience we aim to bring to the player.

The trailer also features the track “Blood Hunger Doctrine” from the album Death Cult Armageddon by Dimmu Borgir, used here with gracious permission by the band and its record label, Nuclear Blast.

We are hoping that the release of this trailer will bring forth potential financial partners who share our passion for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet and who can help us bring this title to the marketplace.

We strongly believe that Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is going to be a hit, and the few who have glimpsed the progress unanimously agree. Twenty minutes of footage from the game were shown recently to attendees at the Industry Giants symposium in Austin, Texas, and the audience responded with great enthusiasm. You can read some of their comments here.

This game look epic. I can't wait to here more about it. Also does anyone know if this game is on PC only or will it also be an Xbox Acade game?

This game looks incredible. I've never seen a game with better looking animations. The world looks incredible and original. I hope this makes it to the pc as well.

the animation is great. It seems that the level is very challenging. And I still have question about aiming the weapon. It seems that it doesn't just shoot front.

XBLA? Steam? PSN?

XBLA? XBLA?? Have you considered releasing this amazing game on Xbox Live Arcade? What about now, are you considering it now?

This looks freaking amazing, I would double dip on Steam and XBLA, that's for sure.

Wow dudes! this game blowed up my head! Really want to play it, but I don't have a 360. Is there a way that we could have this on Steam?
The visual work is amazing, it's like World of Goo meets Patapon and Dimmu Borgir at the background makes it ultraepic.
Great work!

Really, the visual work is amazing. It's like World of Goo meets Patapon.
And Dimmu Borgir makes this ultraepic!
Great work, wanna play NOW!

Wow, that trailer was awesome guys. It truly looks like a work of art. I'd never heard of the game before today, but I am highly anticipating it now. Good luck with the rest of the development, I can't wait to play the final product.

I would buy this in a heartbeat on the PSN. I would buy it twice. Please make this happen on the PSN.

This really reminds me of Heart of Darkness for the PS1, which is a good thing.

Beautiful stuff, sincerely hope you find the financing that you need to make this available - that video is simply stunning.

Would be a travesty to see this as a PC download only, I'd be tempted to partition my macbook HDD for it, but would a mac version be at all feasible?

Hey just wanted to say that I hope this is going to be a cross platform release.

If it plays on linux I will buy it on principal :)

Fellas - just wanted to drop by and say NICE WORK. The new trailer was far more effective at jump-starting my day than my 'bold' coffee. Keep it going.

this is really looking incredible... like "s" said before, you REALLY have to consider doing this for PSN and XBLA... :)

Awesome trailer, very nice editing... :)

Just wanted to say the game looks amazing! Can't wait to play it!

please, I'm following this game since two years, do it for PC!!!
Console versions would be a blast but don't fool your fanbase like that switching to another platform, do it for PC and consoles :D

Saw this on Kotaku, this looks fantastic. I'll definitely get it when it's released!

Sleet01 said...

How many of us would need to sign up as pre-pays to just publish this on your own?

Unknown said...

I love you. I will play.

Unknown said...

PLEASE tell us the game's soundtrack will resemble the trailer. Only a tiny handful of games respect good, proper metal. Might I recommend something by Ron Jarzombek.

Just saw this via Kotaku... I think that developers like this are pushing HD2D gameplay to a higher level. Good luck on getting it published. I'm ready to buy. +)

Incredible! I don't think I've ever seen a game like this before. I'd buy it on day one if it came to PSN or Xbox Live.

Do you guys know the band or what?

Out of curiosity, will there be any prints and the like of the art for sale? The design is absolutely spectacular, and I'd love to get some of those shots on my wall.

SO EPIC. I'm also wondering if the soundtrack will be styled similarly to the Dimmu track you used. It fit perfectly. If you go down the metal route, it would be totally awesome if you got them to write you some original tunes... another band that you might want to talk to about a soundtrack is Machinae Supremacy... they're very good at videogamey metal, and did a soundtrack previously for the game Jets'n'Guns which you can check out for free at their site. They're really cool guys, and I'm sure would be happy to work with you on music if you needed it.

Also, +1 for a linux port, though I know it's not always possible. I'm one of those people who would definitely settle for the game being playable in wine, and I'm sure I'm not alone. I hope you'll consider it, at least. I'll be happy to put my money where my mouth is if you go that extra mile.

I'll be keeping an eye on the project, keep up the amazing work!

Just when I thought the world of indie games couldn't get any better, along comes this. Great art style and animation, it looks fantastic! Please release it on XBLA, PLEASE!!! Keep up the good work guys. :)

Another vote for XBLA.

Microsoft you better have locked this up when they showed you this incredible video at the recent presentation.

Anonymous said...

ITSP looks awesome! I hope you get the funding to need to complete the project. If possible please avoid any exclusive console deals as everyone should get to experience this game.

Chris said...

This looks amazing. Please please please have it available for the PC, and keep in mind the low end PC users.

The Dimmu Borgir soundtrack fits so well, very nice choice.

Is it possible we could get some HD Wallpapers available out of these images you've posted?

Great work guys- I also want to see this on XBLA or
PSN- dual analogue controls would work great by the looks of things.

So a friend linked me to your trailer yesterday except it was on Youtube.

I check today to link somebody else, and I notice "Shadow Planet Productions" (I'm assuming that's you) forced the video to be taken down.

Uh, doesn't that seem a little... counter-productive? The idea of a trailer is to "get the word out". Search any game or movie on Youtube and you'll find hundreds of people who all uploaded the same trailer.

Just sayin'. Your game looks cool and all, but that particular move seems to be pretty silly.

Michel Gagne said...

The reason we asked to have the trailer removed from youtube at first is because it leaked a couple of days before the planed HD exclusive premiere we had planned for GameTrailers.com. We also wanted to have a blog post ready to go with the release.

We're not opposed to anyone posting the trailer on youtube (or anywhere else for that matter), it's just that we weren't quite ready to make our big splash - and I really wanted the trailer to premiere in HD.

In hindsight, we probably should have left it alone... In fact, shortly after filing the complaint, I wrote to youtube and told them to forget about it and keep the trailer on - they went ahead and removed it anyway. Oh well, live and learn.

Pace said...

I'm willing to put my $15 into the pot right now for a pre-order, even if I don't get the game for three years. And even if a refund isn't guaranteed... because I believe this project will succeed amazingly.

I bet I'm not the only one, either -- who else is with me?

Andy said...

Wow! so many levels of awesome going on i'm beside myself! keep up the amazing work and will definitely be looking forward to a release!

Whee! I'd play that one. You might want to ask by the way whether Introversion might want to partner, see http://www.introversion.co.uk/defcon/ :)

Fantastic visual style; It reminds me of World of Goo meets Hunted Forever in multiple ways. I'd be interested to know more about the engine you've developed here and the team in general, too. Like, I want to believe you're using a lot of vector graphics rather than rasterising things to look that way. I saw something about overcoming technical challenges, after all, and that's a significant one.

Also, I referred the trailer and this game to Frank Earl, so he may contact you about helping along a Linux version once he finishes porting Europa Universalis; please! Please write portable code... If the gameplay has half the impact of this trailer, it would easily be worth $20-$25 to me.

This game looks great. However, I'd like to show the video to a friend who can't watch flash videos - could you post the video in a more standard format?

Anonymous said...

This game looks incredible. The only thing that could make it any better is if it's available on multiple platforms, IE: Xbox 360 and PSP.

David said...

Sold (if it's available for Linux!)

Beautiful, I hope the soundtrack is as gutsy as the sick track in the video!

Also, I like the dude operating the levers at the ship construction/upgrade station.

If they ever release a PC/Linux version, I'd happily pay $60 for it...
